After several hours of sitting in silence, McG, punctuated by occasional requests for autographs by the cabin crew, she asked me where I was going and explained that she was going to a friend's party in New York and we ended up talking about interesting places to visit in Denmark...

I only realised who she was when I returned home and saw her semi-dressed on the front of a friend's "lads" magazine.

When Barbie Girl came out I thought it was a clever deconstruction of similar catchy Euro-pop tosh and was playfully undermining the whole genre. Then I realised it was actually just such catchy Euro-pop tosh.

Soon after that I quit my job as an ironic cage-dancer.

Because, like, it's not the bars that make the cage, man. You can't see the real cage, because it's made of the bars that you put around yourself. And you have to make your own key, and unlock that cage. And only you can do it, 'cos it's your cage, ya get me?
