I’ve undoubtedly read Bolt - I read a lot of them. Easy going pulp crime thrillers. Unsurprisingly I can’t remember which one it was but I can take a decent guess at the plot.

Exactly, I had to go back and Google a summary to understand if it was one that was any good. I think Reflex was my favourite.

I distinctly (and predictably) remember being disturbed by the one with the wine merchant. Which I’m guessing was called Proof.

Yup.

“Wine merchant Tony Beach has expertly catered his latest society soiree, but the fun’s over when a team of hit men crash the party...literally. The event leaves Tony with a bitter aftertaste of suspicion—and sets off a mystery that’s an intoxicating blend of deception, intrigue, and murder.”

As a teenager I enjoyed many of Dick Francis' novels. I’m a little disappointed Bolt is faring so badly, but not surprised; it’s probably the correct outcome.

It was much more recent for me. Sue used to work for a bloke who was Chief Steward(?) of the Jockey Club, among other things. Francis was my gateway to learning about the racing world.
