Back to the matter in hand, 'In my life', which was a second-tier seed, is doing remarkably well.

Just listened to it again. I'd forgotten the not-quite-a-harpsicord solo. And the fact that if I'd heard the introduction without context I'd have thought it was Man of the World by Fleetwood Mac.

It's lovely, but I'm surprised it's beating Let It Be. Not upset, mind. Just surprised.

Game 7 is a surprise too. I thought 'lame excuses for not meeting me made by the head of the Office 365 rollout team' would have put up a better showing.

No huge surprises in the voting so far.

You don't echo my thoughts about Game 1 Swittage?

In My Life is one of the best, and most profound, songs the Beatles ever wrote. Let It Be is elegantly crafted, but it's typical McCartney mush lyrically.

Greppers, it's maybe the exception that proves the rule. Let It Be has a dirge-like quality, while In My Life recounts JLs life experiences, unconventional as they were, in a delicate melody.

In My Life is the superior song, for sure.

This is one of those occasions where it is necessary to repeat that, whilst everyone is entitled to an opinion, not all opinions are equally valid.

We are not judging the output of a mediocre or overrated beat combo

Nicely put Swits.

I think my problems with 'was this or wasn't this a single' stem from buying the records in the late seventies/early eighties then ignoring The (S) Beatles until the naughties, since when I've, shamefully, just listened to the Red and Blue albums and assumed

(a) if it is on Red/Blue it was a single and
(b) if it isn't it wasn't

Suspect a number of people around my age (which is everyone on this page I think) might understand even if they don't sympathise.
