Well the thing was that we'd had the police helicopter buzzing over all evening and heard sirens a few times. Then Mrs Nellers was seeing reports on the local Inane Facebook Group that there had been several shootings and now there was "A mad man with a gun running around knocking on doors and shooting randomly". The stuff she was reading was locating it all over our side of town, and particularly around the station. Both the twins were out at the time.
Anyway, kids all safe. Definitely something has happened. There was a forensics team doing something at the traffic lights near us but I'm pretty sure that a series of random shootings in a small Essex town would be all over the news this morning if it had actually happened and I can't see anything except that Station Road was closed for a while.

And from what I'm piecing together this morning it seems that there was a report that someone heard gunshots near the station and called the police then the rumour mill set in at which point everyone was hearing gunshots and chinese whispers kicked off. The police spent the night responding to every panicked response to a door slamming with an armed response unit tied up doing laps of the area for about 6 hours and finding...….well, so far nothing as far as I can tell. At least definitely no gunshot victim. Which is good, but if you read the facebook group it's making the place sound like 1980s Beirut!
