luck for all undertaking desperately challenging runs tomorrow.

Just done a very modest 2 miles. Modest distance, but they were hilly miles.

Made it up my mountain. Top five in each age group were posted on the prestigious results table. I was sixth by 1 second! We were very close together the whole way around and my plan was pretty much to stick with her and I did. But I didn't have the welly to push on past her on the final slope. In fairness, had I pushed, she would have pushed too and we'd both have arrived knackered. I did say I had as much chance as Corbyn - close but not enough. Still, only the top 3 got prizes so nothing lost.

It was hard and hot and I learned that I suck at trail (I was even slower on the way back down although that wasn't part of the race) and confirmed what I already: I don't know how to really push myself. My lungs felt like they would burst and I walked a lot up the steepest bit; but 30 seconds after arriving, I felt fine. Even after running down again, my legs aren't tired. I'm pretty sure they should be tired.

Gun time: 35.24 (minus 10 sec to get over the start line) so pretty much what I predicted (35). I would have liked to have been a wee bit quicker though.

Feeling a bit underwhelmed and disappointed; not sure why. People here are not all that chatty and friendly so I didn't even bother to stay for the pasta as I suspected I'd be sitting alone feeling awkward.

I have photos and will blog tomorrow - once I get my cable as phone apparently does not have enough memory/is too stupid to post photos to gallery.

Not sure when you got to 700 CStar but in the table > you are over 700 :-)

Well done ITG different training required for up hill racing and down has an art of its own.
Great news on house Ferret

About This Thread

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2017 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

Join in the chat on the friendliest thread around - all things discussed and sometimes even some running is talked about.

Happy running :-)
