Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Lovely tribute from Gene Simmons on R4 just now. Not the first person I’d have expected on the tribute list but all the more moving for it.

Finale of *every* school disco I ever went to - just the order varied:

Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Brown Sugar - Stones
Hi Ho Silver Lining - Jeff Beck

They obviously didn't want you snogging then.

The first part of Freebird has ample snogging opportunities.

End of Layla is long enough to encompass sex and a cigarette too!

DM - gratuitously overlong solos. Might include genres other than AOR....

Genesis had a name for the overlong ending that temporarily escapes me. 'Disney' or somesuch. Generally involved Banks noodling for a couple of minutes to fill up album space.

Switt just spawned a question. Anyone, ever, anywhere, heard a drum solo and wished it was longer? Nope. Me neither. And I've seen a *lot* of great drummers. And Ginger Baker.

It's like any other kind of solo - they simply go on too long. However, I offer this exhibit from B J Wilson, IMO the greatest of them all:
