We are a running* group based in the Peak District village of Youlgrave. Established in March 2021 as a hub for all our local and visiting runners.
We have no affiliation and no overheads. We are simply people that meet up to train and jog about. If you fancy joining us membership is free and there's no commitment. It simply adds a little structure which can allow us to run championships, member only runs and 1st entry into the various races and events we put on. We do various events with lots of Guided Trail Runs and a couple of races which can viewed here .Add your email address to the events newsletter list if you want to be 1st to hear about what we have planned.
OUR CLUB RUNS
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 18:45 for 19:00. Tuesday is the social 5, a 1 group social jog over the fields. Thursdays are mostly session based running (speed work on the grass, hills, strength and technique work etc). Check the club runs page to see what the session is each week. We meet on Alport Lane Playing fields , Youlgrave (the cricket and football pitches, Alport end of the village, car park is next to the field). We head to The George for post run recovery. Because they're session based this allows us to cater for all abilities ie work as hard as you want or have a walk / jog, but we'll all be within close proximity of each other
Guided Trail Runs. Saturday or Sundays usually starting at 10:00 every 2-3 weeks. We use these to go exploring around the Peak District. Full details including maps and route description can be found on our EVENTS page. We do have a loose limit of 20 people depending on the route so we do ask that you let us know you're coming via the form . This is to control numbers and enables us to send final details out/updates if needed.
All our runs are open invite (no membership, fees etc needed ) simply come along (though we are sneaking in a few additional member only things as we grow). Thursday
The Sessions. We rotate through the month between;
wk1: Grass Intervals. Usually sets of 1min to 3min structured sets on the grass.
wk2: Sprints and strength. Short sprints mixed in with some form of cross training eg plyometrics or on the park fitness equipment.
wk3:Pub Run. We run to a local pub, have a pint, run back.
wk4 Hills. Mixed length hill reps around the village
