Hi, I'm Paul. Ex Cheshire chap living in SE London.
Having been quite an active teenager trying my hand at a variety of sports (football, RL, cross country, athletics and weights), it all stopped when I came to London in the mid 90s and work and a social life got in the way! I dabbled with the gym on-and-off but as with many people, I quickly got bored and was never able to keep at it for more than 3 months at a time.
Took up road running for the first time in 2009 to try and improve my fitness and lose some weight/stress. I really enjoyed it but then got compartment syndrome in my calf and lost interest after a couple of months of physio (thankfully, no op required). Tried to take up running again at the start of 2011 but suffered a discogenic injury following a scuba diving training session. Several months of discomfort followed but physio treatment fixed it and, thankfully, I was able to complete my BSAC Sports Diver qualification.
I'm chuffed to say that since May 2012, I've got back into running and I'm really enjoying it. Feel fitter and have lost over a stone to date. Having completed a few 10k's over the summer, I am now training for a half marathon and hope to do a full marathon next year. I'm far, far slower than the best runners and will never be able to compete with them but I'm slowly improving and, most importantly, I enjoy it!
