Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Bury Friday 5, my third time running this race, 2009 I almost killed myself trying to break 30 minutes, last year the pain was just as bad to make it under 28 minutes. This year being a lot fitter I was hoping for a less painful experience mmmm.... weighed in 3 lbs lighter than the last race at Stowmarket two weeks ago, the usual suspects were in attendance plus the winner of this race last year Kevin Murphy. Found myself following the leaders round for the first few miles, the pace seemed so slow, I should have taken the race on but took the easy option and sat in the pack. I paid for that as just after three miles Delo and Gibbon 'took off' and there was nothing I could do about it. Happy to finish 3rd though, certainly would have taken that at the start.

Excellent run Rob, it's a good sign if you are finding that sort of pace comfortable. I think you are right, you have got to use your strength through the whole race to get the better of those youngsters.
