Notes & Comments

Girvan Half. Very, very windy indeed. Solid start, and was sitting in a pack around 10th to 15th as the fast starters dashed off. Started picking them off and by 3 miles was sitting comfortably in 5th, with third in the distance and 4th a wee bit ahead. Held my own pace, and although not gaining anything on 4th we were both closing in on 3rd (Rossco). Guy in front caught Ross heading out of Dailly, and it took a while but I worked slowly towards them and caught them at Cairnhill, and passed them on the way up the hill. From there the three of us worked the pace and swapped positions, but by 12 miles the lad who'd been in front started to pull away with a very strong finish. I was in 4th but knew ross was close behind. Just at the roundabout he sprinted by and I had nothing. I could have kept running another few miles at this pace, but had no extra speed (base training for ye!). Very happy with 5th overall. New PB of 1.20.50 and without the wind I'd have broken 80 no problem, and on flat course I'd demolish it. Really looking forward to Glasgow Half now. :)

Really Great Run Davy and a Super New PB in tough conditions!!! Enjoyed the battle with yourself and Bryan Lamb from Bella who finished 3rd. You were running really well today and should be proud of your performance!! Well-Done M8!
