Notes & Comments

Shifnal Half Marathon - Quite enjoyed this and did much better than I expected. Ran the first 5 miles with Denzil (who had run the Birmingham, Black Country Half yesterday and had a bit of a hangover), which was great for the company. Started pulling away in mile 4 but waited for him at the water station at the top of the hill and we ran together again. However, I sterted pulling away after mile 5 and ran alone, taking in the scenery for quite a while. At mile 9 I decided to put my ipod on and ran with that til the end. Seemed to run well on the flat and the down, and although I ran all the hills, I found that people I pass on the down and flat were passing me on the ups. However, from mile 10 I pulled away from the group I had been passing and managed to get to the end with them a few mins behind. Passed loads of people in the last couple of miles so I felt quite good and had a great sprint finifsh across the field to impress Rich and the kids :-) Pleased with the time as I walked through all water stations (about 5 I think there were) and there was quite a head wind at times
