Notes & Comments

Anniversary Waltz...not had a good week, combination of possible reaction to ibuprofen, then infection, and then got sick from antibiotics. Consequently felt ruff all week and not ran a step since last Saturdays 50. Having gone up to lakes on Friday pm woke up feeling ok Sat morn, apart from the expected butterflies. Saw Richard off on the TWA and floated around the Pete Bland van and chatting with folk. Set off at 11.30am, the sun blazing it was a good start trotting in to the first climb of Robinson. Then the sickness started. I put it down to a good effort on the climb, and thought once at the summit it was bound to pass. Not to be, I got progressively worse, and couldn’t take anything other than sips of water. Felt like I crawled my way around, and where I would usually try to make up time on the descent, I just couldn’t muster up the energy. Finally reached the finish line to be greeted by Richard (who had done an amazing time on a tough race) and some Calder valley club mates. Had to bypass the food and free beer to crash out by the car and throw up. Not my best race!! Still, there's always next year ;-)
