Notes & Comments
15:23.7 for 9th at the 2025 Haddonfield Adrenaline 5K. Came through the mile in 4:59 and 2 miles in 10:00. So last 1.1 was around 4:53 pace if mats were correct, which frankly who knows. Started off feeling alright, y'know but hard to say. By the time we turned off the main drag, probably a little more than half a mile in I was a little bit like 'uh oh'. But had decent group of prtc guys, Kevin, Jason, Bo, maybe someone else. And Luke a bit ahead. Came thru mile a few seconds slower than last year, but was like 'okay well' and then hit big downhill and that was decent and kinda caught up to group ahead, and just kept using momentum to move up. By the start of the climb a bit before mile 2, I was ahead of earlier described pack and feeling pretty good, reeling guys in. Thinking 'hey maybe I can hit last year's time?'. Came thru 2 miles in 10:00 and was like 'hmm we'll see' but legs still felt pretty solid so was grinding and catching up to Luke and another guy. Caught them a bit before the turn onto the main drag again. Got there and there was another guy with me then too. Was hurting pretty bad but just mentally stayed with it. Eventually caught Luke but the other guy who had caught up to me got a bit ahead, and while I didn't completely fall apart at the end I definitely did not pick it up, was already pushing quite hard the last mile so didn't have anything to give at end. Still though, only 6 seconds slower than last year is pretty hype given I had ran 532 miles at this point last year compared to 382 in 2025. So a lot less training, only a little slower! Maybe I do have a decent shot at a Broad St pr this year. Exciting things. I got that dog in me. Also, think I wasn't warmed up enough bc really did feel pretty crummy the first mile, then felt like I warmed up into it for next mile and a half but had pushed hard then so had little at end, but if I'd been more warmed up maybe could've saved myself a couple seconds at start. But also good sign for the longer distances. Anyway anyway good race, I was nervous beforehand but I am good at racing!
