21.1k Tempo with 13k @MP

Couple of aims for this one. Run with a Spotify Playlist of tracks at 87bpm to give me my target marathon cadence of 174bpm. Secondly, test out an additional data screen with some sense checking metrics following last Sunday's not so great long run.

The playlist thing worked fairly well, although I had to skip a few tracks that just didn't make sense, cadence wise. I was looking for a good average across the 13k rep and although overall it averaged out at 174 cadence, there was a bit of variation across a few kms. Not sure I'll stick with this approach. Maybe I'll have another go or two before deciding.

The data screen worked well. Last Sunday, I found that once I'd hit the mental wall and had to walk a few times, I lost where I was at with fueling etc. So all I've done with the extra screen is add a few metrics that will allow me to double check exactly where I am at in a any given session. I refer to it a few times tonight, just to see if it had the desired effect. Happy to keep this one set up. I don't have my data screens scrolling as invariably the one I want is never there when I look at my watch so I scroll to the ones I want manually as and when required. It works for me.

The run itself was great tonight, although I was possibly a little too quick in tempo rep. I'll have to knock that back again to get closer to my target pace. But it's a nice problem to have at this stage of my training plan. Felt comfortable all the way through and no major concerns. A 1:35 HM in there with 9k at easy pace. Very pleased with that.

Aches and pains: Groin2-3. Right piriformis 1.

Shoes: Asics MetaSpeed Sky+. Testing race shoes out tonight. Jury still out if these will be race day footwear.
