That was good! Glen Clova half. My 10th in a row. Absolutely beautiful place, lovely event and a tricky, but enjoyable course. My best half in 4 years plus, I think. I'll go check. And I think as an undulating route, it's at least 90s - 2 mins slower than a flat. e.g. in 2012/13 I did GC in 1:25 something, then Alloa 1:23:07. OK, I'd done another 1000 miles of training, but even so, same cycle? Actually, that was post Loch Ness, but Saturday was post Chester. Anyhoo! Started steady 6:50s, sped up on downhills, bit of chat with marshals and other runners, got hard at about 10 miles and just dug in. Finished strong, overtaken by no one, couldn't quite get young lad on the line, but even that pulled me on a bit. Was hoping for under 1:30. Really chuffed with 1:27:28. 75% WAVA, sees me to nearly 2013 equivalent. Need to keep it going through to London and Edinburgh next year. Goal will be 3:0x marathon, but more importantly, try and get some decent times at half, 10K, 5K and in between distances. And to stay injury free. And to enjoy the lovely runs in the hills, like Sunday, with Kinross. Saturday great to see Harmeny Donald and Elaine, Colin, Pat, Kirsty McB, and Kinross Jillian G and Alan K and lots of other pals. Nice creamy soup after. Freezing on finish line (I ran in vest - there's a good pic of my gurning up the hill at mile 11 I think from Fishy Gordon!), in to the bar to warm hands and bum on the wood burning stove, and crisps and a tango to drink. Lovely drive home, and still made it out for Matt's 40th birthday ceilidh in the evening. *Update - bottle of Lucozade sport before and 1 get at 6 miles. These are tried and tested! :-) G
