How not to pace a race...

Had planned to run this with Mel as a 'time on feet' training run. After a couple of miles realised I had lost Mel, waited for ten minutes or so, got the phone out and saw the message that sadly Mel had had to pull out with her dodgy foot.

So... then moved up through the field a bit more briskly. Quick chat with Nicci Griffin as I overtook ("last time I saw you, you were taking a photo of my arse"). Nice to bump into Jules Blackwell, who was a bit puzzled by my field position. Enjoyed the rest of the run. Tired a bit, but nobody overtook me (although it did need a sprint finish to ensure that).

Pretty pleased with the time considering the slowish start, and a warm and windy day. Interesting to note that I was generally much faster than people on the downhills, and walked the uphills faster than people (so just the proper running to work on...)

Nutritional notes: Shreddies for breakfast, and a honey sandwich at T-1 hour. Fruit cake at each checkpoint, except half way, where I had cocktail sausages and sausage rolls. No electrolytes (couldn't be bothered) - but no cramps.

Who needs electrolytes whe there are sausages ? :) excellent time considering!

Amazed as always!
