Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

10k Run the Rock race

Had the most painful sports massage on Tuesday post half and was in agony for Weds and most of Thurs so this was never going to be a race. At the last minute Rachel, friend from work decided to enter having never run a race before and only really run on treadmills so I said I'd run with her.

Was up super early because I was water station marshall for those new runners in my SRG group who weren't able to run last Sunday and Lisa and Glenn kindly agreed to take them on their milestone 10k run so they got a certificate. Whilst waiting in the cold and wet Mick set up the gas stove and brewed up and we sat under cover of the car boot supping tea watching the kangaroos whilst we waited for the runners!

So by the time I got to the race I was cold and wet! Undulating course and mixed terrain underfoot, Rach was great and I didn't nag but just kept looking over my shoulder so she knew I was keeping tabs on her and she couldn't walk or slow down! A runner in front decided she was going to have a gel and after ripping open her packet she dropped the end on the floor, so I picked it up, chased after her and said 'you've dropped your litter, put it in your belt and take it home with you! - she was so taken aback she did as she was told! Sprint finish with Rach finishing .06 of a second behind our works Managing Director(who I beat last year!)

As always a great race and maybe a new running buddy in Rach!
