Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

ducksdisease Had secretly hoped to go sub-2hrs, but was unsure how I would cope with the heat/humidity & what the course was like..also this was my 1st HM so had nothing to compare with. I felt good for the first 10 miles and was on target, but as the sun got higher in the sky and the course got tougher (soft sand) so my energy dwindled, and by 12 miles my body was screaming at me to walk. I succumbed to this when I started seriously feeling as though I was going to collapse!

The course winds its way round a state park in Hillsborough County, Florida, mostly on hard packed & grass trails with some stretches of deep sand. It it relatively flat and there are shady stretches through wooded areas; beautiful scenery.

According to my Garmin, the course measured 13.51 (this was confirmed by other runners later), so by 13.3 m I was thinking I had missed a turn & drifted into the marathon!

Despite a tough finish, the race was brilliant, the post-race hospitality excellent (food & DJ) & I had great fun...I would recommend it to anyone holidaying in Florida in November.
