Haggis 2 A great race apparently will be careful as is part of my Edinburgh marathon training in a weeks time, last long run i guess then taper for the week. Ha ha i canot beleive what i have acheived today, i really tried, brought a tear to me eye....never ever thought id go sub 1:40.....really tear to me eye. 10miles was 1:15 fastest ever.

PJL Not done this before. I gather it's a fast course though so I should manage a PB despite lack of long runs in recent training. I had an absolute shocker. Far too complacent beforehand. Set off way too fast although it seemed comfortable at the time. Struggled with sore quads from before halfway. First 10k in 43mins then it went downhill both literally and figuratively from there - 2nd 10k in nearly 47mins. Downhills were a killer on my shins. In the end I was just aiming to finish without stopping. Ouch! Apologies to all who bet on me. 5k splits: 20:56, 21:56, 22:56, 23:43
