Tresco Marathon

paskha 11th Marathon / 1st Tresco M. This is one fabulous marathon. 7.5 laps round the little island of Tresco, I'd go back every year if I could afford it .... It was not a good day weatherwise but I had the right gear on and carried a hat! It was warm and muggy around the lovely Abbey Gardens, then the Sou'westerly gale had you laughing when you went round that part of the island - couldn't see the views (saw them the following year). I got into the laps, which was easier than counting miles .... and managed a negative split cos I stopped to stretch for 2 mins in the first half. 2:23 & 2:22. Each lap was about 38 mins - a lot of up and down on concrete roads. It's really exciting when you're finally allowed to head on up to the Island Hotel and the FINISH .... it felt like the yellow brick road and arriving at the Emerald City!! Suddenly crowds of people, film crew, Jenny Agutter, cheering, marquees, food, pampered!!
