Yellow Fang Had to wake up at 4:00, which was a shock. Fellow Reading Roadrunner Steve Lowe kindly gave me a lift down. The sea was warmer than I expected, but I forgot the sea was salty and got a mouthful. We swam part way across the bay, got out at the opposite shore and then swam back. It was quite difficult to spot where I was going. My goggles misted up and I had trouble spotting the buoys. I just followed the nearest swim hats I could see. I got out in about 25 mins.
The bike ride went well. I overtook a lot of competitors and was only passed by two, who I think I may have passed first anyway. The course was pretty undulating for the first few miles before joining the main road. I think I got around in about 1.15. The run started off on a slight up-hill gradient, but then went up an unpaved footpath up to the cliff top. I had to walk some of this as it was so steep, and fell on my face at one point. I was passed by someone on the way down. We rejoined the road and eventually the road started to descend and we picked up speed. I was passed by someone from the next wave, but nearly caught the chap who passed me earlier before losing out in the sprint finish. I was pleased with my time, although I think the run was a bit short, and I'm not sure about the swim neither.
