Blister Warm up was a bit rushed because I arrived late, oops! Not much competition, I knew before the start that I would only have one person to race against. We were given lanes for some reason and had to stick to them until 100m, I had lane 1 and my only contender had lane 7. Gun went and I ran hard, in fact was in first place then I heard my competition breathing down the back of my neck, I thought he would go past but he stayed behind so I lead for the first 400m, the bell went and and we were on 64 seconds - perfect (if I could just keep this up for another 400m!). I could here him change pace so I reacted, 500m meters and I was still in first place, he went past I pushed hard but could barley stick with him. Got to 600m and I was just behind but fading, my whole body was working hard, my arms felt so heavy and tired as did my legs - it was so intense, he kept increasing the pace, I couldn't react but just held on so stay in second place. He did 2:06 in the end! So he did the last lap in 62 and there was no way I could have kept that up. I'm pleased with my time, it's only my second 800m race and I have much to learn. I think with a little more competition I could knock another 1 or 2 seconds off that time.
