Foxy Rather a chilly day in Seattle, I ran about 6 miles in my cheap throw away fleece jacket & after that the majority of the race in my fleece headband & gloves. I met the Mcguigan boys originally rom Belfast on the Mercer Island bridge & ran with them from about 4 - 16 miles before they left me, i was going pretty well until 18 miles & then all the hills kicked in & some of them were brutal - I had to walk up them & then reverted to run 8 mins, walk a min from the that point - was able to calculate doing that I could still get in under 4 hours - I'm hoping to run a sub 4 in every country I visit - so will have to go back to Italy - i also want to do as many capital cities as possible - so looks like Rome is caling. The race ends in memorial stadium on the football field & once again I bought the airplane out of the Hangar !!! Was relieved it was over & again couldn't old back the tears, some other guy who had finished gave me a hug, what a wonderful gesture - only those who have run a marathon truly appreciate what it takes & what you go through. A great solid bling medal featuring the Space needle & whilst i joked with the organisers about a yellow t -shirt (it has to be green if you are in the evergreen state surely ?!!!) i's a vey nice long sleeve wicking Asics one - i now have a full range of race shirts for every race condition. My first American sub 4, i prefer the European runs in KMs so much easier to judge your pace. 4 of the 5 countries for the Bobby Moore fund were now done.
