Running Fish policy for this year was to avoid repeating past races in preference to finding new ones. which i still think is a good idea, but occasionally you're going to get caught out by a lack of course knowledge, and this was one such example. advertised as a 10miler, but as you run past the 10m board with the finish nowhere in sight you realise it isnt. also, as i ran through the ankle deep mud, i had to conclude that lwt road shoes werent the best choice. actually it wasnt the ankle deep stuff which was the worst problem, it was the shallow slippery stuff, felt like running on ice in parts, with no grip. anyway, apart from all that, it was a good race, nice atmosohere and the weather wasnt too bad. pace was ok, given the terrain, and managed the final mile run-in after the climb at sub6 pace, which hopefully means a sub60 10miler isnt too far away.
