garfieldhouse Guessing for this one, not done it before. I reckon it will be rather tough!
Update on 16 June 2008. Added 12 minutes to predicted time having seen last years results and found similar club members who got around this time. Not expecting to be quick, but at least can try out my new off-road shoes properly.

Update 20/06/08. Very hilly! I was told it was pretty amazing to do this in less than an hour. I came in close to the end of the pack, but enjoyed the race. The first 200 m was near-vertical to Haytor, followed by a short downhill and along an extremely windy ridge, dodging lumps of granite you could break your ankles on, nasty gorse that rubbed against you and always watching where you put your feet. Then down an awful descent where the ground nearly gave way- so thankful for my fell shoes. Into the valley, which was warm and across a stream by a bridge, followed by some woodland areas and up another hill. Climbing steadily to Hound Tor where drinks were taken. The Marshalls must have been amazing getting drinks all the way up there. The coure was marked out with tape, but obviously they had run out of this part was around and decided to use old running signs instead. Passed a 10 mile marker, then a 10k marker, then a 9 mile marker etc. Just to confuse me! ;-) Then more downhill through very narrow paths, dodging walkers and yet more granite blocks, jumping over the odd one or two. Then through (yes, through) a stream, before climbing some sharp ascent with a huge granite block which was actually vertical, had to use my hands to haul myself up it! Up some more back to Haytor summit. Great views with the weather made up for it as you can see right out to see beyond Dartmouth. Then down, down and through more narrow bracken and gorse to the finish. Phew, I know why they call it the Heller. Not one to do in awful weather conditions, but made fantastic by this day. Tired, but enjoyed the run, even if it was more of a jog at times. My aim was always to enjoy this one and not push too hard- that would be stupid! UPDATE: 21/07/07. Official time was 01:06:16. Time shown is from Garmin, started when I crossed the start line.
