Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yellow Fang The race seemed have grown quite a lot since last year, with more competitors and stalls than ever. The weather was overcast. I didn't recognise many faces, only Sharkie from TVT and Richard from Reading Road Runners. I started fairly near the front, but it set off at a cracking pace. There were some kids in the race doing the first 5K leg as their teenage kicks race. I thought they'd overcooked it, but one of them overtook me on the sprint down to the finish. The bike leg followed a different course to previous years. I got held up a bit on the bridleway because it was difficult to pass. Overall, I don't think it was as hard as before when it went up the Ridgeway. Concrete hill was pretty tough, and there was another pretty tough hill which went through the woods. The bridleway going back to the start was fun. Unlike previous years, there was a fair bit of company on the third leg. There is a killer hill about 1K into the course, but then it goes down a long way through the woods. I overtook some people going up the hill but kept on getting caught on the down hill. There's a second short sharp hill, and after that it's all downhill. To be honest, I think I could have competed a bit harder on the last mile or so, but I still ended up 14th which is my best so far. At the end I found out Sharkie had won the individual race and Richard had won in the relay.
