Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Snapstinget Ramping up from 60 miles in July (partly due to holiday) to 180 or so for August means heavy legs. So I wasn't expecting much, and I expected even less when I saw the weather forecast. In the event I wasn't prepared for how hard it was. I like the towm and I have raced there many a time; I was looking forward to some of the course that I bhave run in the opposite direction during the eight marathons I have run there. But due to the heat and humidity, the bits of the 5k loop we ran onin the centre of town were sultry, and the bits on Falen where I'd hoped to enjoy soime air had the sun beating down on them. I started a bit fast, but it didn't feel like it. Then we hit the sun. Or it hit me. I pulled right back. But by 7k I had decided to walk all the water stops (every 2½ k), and that just about sums it up. The first runner to collapse did so after 5k of the combined 5 and 10 k races: I saw it happen as he entered the final stretch. Throughout the afternoon ambulances were heading from the centre out to the hospital (on the sunny stretch). I felt sick quite a lot of the time. A hellish day.
