Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Debstir This will be my first ever duathlon - 2.5m run / 10m cycle / 2.5m run. Predicted time includes transitions (and going back after T2 to replace my cycle helmet!).
Well, look at that, I did better than I thought I would!
1st run (2.5m) - 18:47min. Considering we had a headwind for the first half of the run to contend with I was happy with my time. It was absolutely freezing and raining at the start. Nice route through farm tracks and back roads.
T1 - 38secs. Not surprising really, seeing how as a novice to this malarky, I don't have proper cycling shoes (yet) so all I had to do was put on my helmet and wheel my bike out of transition (nearly tried to get on it straight away then remembered!)
Cycle leg (10m) - 41:03min. This was a 5m out and back course and the first 5m was in to the wind - nightmare! But the rain was off. Much better on the way back which also seemed to be slightly downhill too. Kept thinking I wished I had kept my tribars on to give my wrists a wee break but then I'd probably have crashed!
T2 - 27secs. Again, no shoes to change so off bike, wheel it to where I got it, helmet off (I remembered!!) and off we go.
2nd run (2.5m) - 19.16mins. Jelly legs ahoy! Took until the top of the wee farm track hill for my legs to settle in to the run. 2nd half was again much better with the tailwind.

So there we have it. Debstir's rather long race report for her first ever duathlon. I absolutely loved it. I came in 2nd last but do I care? Do I heck! I went, I took part and I finished and that was all I had set out to do. Job done! Now where's the next one?! (Erm, Monikie Country Park in Dundee, I believe!)
