Capricorn My first off-road race and I loved it. Good course and organisation, excellent marshalls and not too muddy despite the recent rain. I suppose it was fairly tough - with some reasonable hills, but the scenery more than made up for it.
Nice to have sweets at the checkpoints !
I live in the area and have run on all the roads we crossed many times so it was nice to see the area from an off-road point of view.

Jonny Extremely tough course over fields, tracks, paths, bridleways & the odd small section of country roads & I did struggle with this one especially in the 2nd half of the race. Went the wrong way & ended up running an extra 3/4 mile. Left ankle felt painfull from the uneven, sloping surfaces, all the paths seemed to slope from left to right. Hip became a problem with about 5 miles to go. The last 2 miles were nice being mostly flat or downhill. Glad I did it but wouldn't fancy that tough a run too often. The runners doing the Full Fat 40 are mad.

Matt the Brum Was supposed to be running the 40 but sore feet and blisters made me decided to finish at 20 miles. Well organised and great course. Definately one I'd do again.

RFJ Met up with Gobi, Snap, Vommit, Colin and Too much water at start. Did a gentle warm up, then off to the start. This is a very undulating and hilly course. Forgot my garmin, so was in the lap of my watch. Anyway set of at a nice slowish pace that felt comfotable. Go to the first check point (5m) in 40:51, so quite happy with that.

Then the fun started, at about 8m we went down a road and on to a path the marshall facing us said bear left so we did (we later found out thath he meant his left) so we went on a detour of about a mile before a cyclist put us back on track, our little group were not the only ones, so got to the 10m check poiny (now 11m) in 52:57 (1:33:49) still happy with the pace.

Then came two big hills, and a wooded section linking them, I tweaked my left ankle on a tree root, which slowed me down considerably and dented my confidence, it was 5.4m to the next checkpoint (15.4/16.4) in 56:07 (2:29:57) refuelled nicely at this point ready for the last 4.6m

This went very quickly, I got my pace back up and there were no big hills to worry about and crused to the finish in 37:08 for a total time of 3:07:05, for unofficially 21 miles.

Thanks to Vomit, who was support crew for Gobi, but cheered me on too, thanks and to Richk and Trin.

Despite the detour, a great race and a great day.
