BMAF Open Cross Country Championships

Lisrun An experience not to be forgotten and never likely to be repeated. Almost gale force winds - luckily my race (50-69 age group) ran in sunshine, the other races had rain to contend with as well. Ran round Durham University's Maiden Castle field which was fine - flat and good ground, then over the small river onto a field which was a nightmare. Mud pools up to a foot in depth, ditches, a hill and very soft underfoot everywhere else. We had to do four laps of this course ! Very nearly gave up after the first lap which took me 13 min. Felt tired most of the way and was just relieved to have completed it. About 147 ran and I was the only unattached runner in any of the races, many runners came a long way.
