Yorkshire Marathon is basically pretty flat, whiteflash! It's also my "home" marathon. :-) It only starts and finishes in York, the rest is pretty much countryside.

It's down a short sharp hill in the first half a mile from the University, flattish until mile 9, up a couple of shortish ones again and then down to 14, then from about mile 14-16 a long invisible one that you don't notice in a car or on a bike!

From 19-25.5 is basically flat again, and then you meet the hill you enjoyed running down at the star as you turn the corner to the finish. (I learned new swear words from my fellow runners there when I first did it!). Course profile here.... fetcheveryone.com/route-1784853

Support - lots at the start for the first 7 or 8 miles, and the end from mile 24 onward, and in Stamford Bridge (mile 14-ish) and Dunnington (16-20 ish) in the out and back legs. If the weather is okay, then also in the villages around 10-11 miles! There are undeniably some very quiet bits in-between!

(It's better than the first time I did Manchester, but that was the year they restarted it and it was a bit of a shambles there.)

Definitely not as much fun as London!
