In the previous pictures you could see the Hemlock Stone, which tradition has it was thrown from Castleton, some 40 miles away, by the Devil as the church bells were annoying him. Other information is at en.wikipedia.org . It is also said that it is the geological start of the Pennines, possibly. Anyway, here is a picture of it from closer up. If you look very closely, there is a bench to the right, behind it. Yes, there, just through the railings. Not too obvious? O.K, i'll put up a better photo. |
