Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Went to the red kite feeding station at bellymack farm today. For whatever reason, after an hour an a half, they just weren't interested in the meat. Two 10 second bursts of swooping when the farmer let their dog grab some of the meat, but otherwise they just circled. Still got to see 50/60 birds though.

One of the red kites from yesterday. And a red squirrel was down eating the peanuts I put out so quite happy.

Is there an absolute bumper crop of acorns this year? It seems to me that there are mounds of them underneath loads of oak trees, round here at least. I don't remember seeing so many before, but it could just be that I am paying more attention this year.

Cetti's warbler on my run just now, and what struck me as a very late in the year dragonfly.

I’ve been occasionally collecting and planting them. Not the first year I’ve done it and not certain I’ve noticed any more this year. Though I have to say on both runs yesterday I noticed one or two huge piles of acorns.

Ooh waxwings. Here in the inner city they stayed for about a week at a school with delicious berries and buds. Wonder when they'll get down south ...
