Ah the lovely HBT, where to start...
When I first got back into running about 6 or 7 years ago they were my local club so I arranged to go out for a run with them. They said they didn't want complete beginners so I must be able to run for 45 minutes (which I could) but they neglected to mention they were going to run 6 x 7.5 minute miles in that 45 minutes which I wasn't fit for. After about a mile they just disappeared around a corner and left me behind, and not one person in the whole training group came back to check I was OK. When I phoned up the next evening to see what had happened I was told I wasn't a real runner and not to come back.
At the time it really knocked my confidence and I went back to running on my own for about 18 months until I met Santababy handing out jelly babies at the Edinburgh marathon Fetchpoint who couldn't have been nicer and told me all about this lovely online running club called Fetch.
I now run with ERN and there's some tension between our two clubs as we both consider Arthur's Seat to be our home turf so our members have suffered some abuse at races when they saw our vests.
Having said all that as others have mentioned there are some really nice individuals in the club and I really like the way you see them at the Meadows relay running with their kids and bringing along a new generation, it's just a shame they have a higher proportion of gobshites amongst their number than most other clubs

How awful TD! That is the exact opposite of our club. When a new person starts the coach takes special care to make sure they are ok and not left behind. Black n purple is much nicer than brown

"When I phoned up the next evening to see what had happened I was told I wasn't a real runner and not to come back." W.T.F
That attitude is clearly the exception to the rule. If anything, that gobshite on the phone was not the real runner; perhaps he should have pointed himself in the direction of 'Get tae' and commenced 7.5min mile-ing until safely back in his comfort zone.
Arsepiece.

But I guess it's like some firms I know. Despite the external perception which I'm pretty confident they don't care one little bit about...I'll bet they look after their own.
Soapy, I sort of laughed too, sorry TD
