There was a great strop about 'the diminutive antipodean chanteuse' in the Sindy last week. Most amusing.

It was the same bit that featured Giles' Coren's love of the phrase 'bollocks on stilts'.

I'm assuming he's been mentioned before, but if not, how's about Ricky Gervais. I don't really get his recent descent into Bernard Manningesque humour. Or his inability to respond in a grownup fashion to crticicism from other comedians, beyond "you're all shit and jealous of my awards".

Maybe he could be bumped off if we got enough milky bars and put them on him in a shallow vaguely humourous saw-type mockery of his famous catchphrase.

Had to think about it, but yes. Not sure why the binsy berk popped into my brain earlier, but he did.

Positive review for the new series of Room 101 in the paper. Alas, it is a tv show and not available as a podcast.

She probably doesn't merit the term 'national treasure' yet but Stacey Solomon is becoming annoyingly ubiquitous and gets right on my nerves - I almost long for the days when Kerry Katona was on the Iceland ads!

About This Thread

Maintained by GregP
Regular listeners of FT will know about this one. What national 'treasure' do you feel would be better on a skip rather than on a pedestal?

Someone (an MK Dons supporter) proposed AFC Wimbledon, about whom everyone gets misty eyed but he hated.

Other nominations included Bruce Forsyth and Seb Coe.

We were discussing this on the Rugby Wire (whch unforgivably is *not* called "y wifren rygbi ") as Martin Johnson was nominated.

It was suggested that a wider audience might enjoy the challenge.
