Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think I asked this on Facebook, but I've lost the thread, so after today's Croxby Crawl, 4.44 miles of on-road hills, I've decided finally that I am going to have to buy new races for my racing shoes.

New Year's Day, I was chasing 40 mins, when after 3 miles - kablammo - laces undone, needed redoing with cold fingers. Lost time.
Today Croxby, on for the "gold-standard" of 30 mins, shoes undone not once but twice - came in at 30.11

I'm losing time when I'm running quickly with the laces in my Brooks ST5 - they're too satin-like.

So I need some new laces, lightweight, which will "feel" fast but also feel fastened, in red, but which will stay fastened. I wear the racers for all distances up to fast marathon, so I need them to stay in place. I have Xtenex in my triathlon shoes, but I'm not sure about them over say 10k. I now only wear my tri shoes to the swimming pool with the boy!

Any ideas?

"I am going to have to buy new races for my racing shoes"?

Obviously, new laces, not races.

I wore extenex for ages. Pretty sure I did a marathon in them.

You're probably tying them wrong.

There is that.
I stopped using extenex when I learnt to tie them properly.
Apparently I had been doing it wrong for 38 years.

Double knot ?

I always do for races, despite my laces coming undone maybe 3 times in 13 years of running when tied in a single knot for training

I swear by Locklaces ever since my standard issue laces came undone during a race.

Always double knot, Baz. Just these laces are made of a particularly slippery fabric - or maybe my main rival has vaselined my laces while I've not been watching.
