[Someone has posted a photograph of a receipt dating back to 1951 for a delivery from T. Hall & Sons, Coal and Coke Merchants. Some wag replied saying that their are still a few coke merchants in the village, but he’s never known them to give a receipt 😀]

Have it on good authority, Painsbury’s in Mere Green, up £140k on takings last week, £130k this week not including today (their week end Friday) I only went in to buy a light bulb, shelves empty, people panic buying..... its madness .... Store will be restocked over night..... Sainsbury’s “rubbing theirs hands together”

Please can everybody stop being so critical and judgemental. Please do not 'lose all faith in humanity' or conclude that we 'are all as mad as a box of frogs'.
Some of us are out shopping precisely because we are supporting an elderly, immobile and vulnerable member of society, and we do this every week, come rain, shine or coronavirus. Please think twice before you complain about what might look to you like panic buying, but to us is just a weekly shop for someone in need.
