Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

*I'm* eminently punchable. I'm not going to criticise him for that.

Crikey I remember Benjy's.

Always thought of it as a sort of prototype Gregg's.

They used to do a tea/coffee served in a pint sized Styrofoam cup, if you had milk in your tea/coffee you would end up with a cold slug of milk sitting at the bottom of the cup.

Oh yes, I remember - the skanks at an advisory firm I worked for used to save a few pence by going there.

In my drinking days they were a godsend for toast in the morning if I had a hangover. You've got the right outfit - we had one near us when I was in America Square. It was hugely popular first thing. Don't think anyone ever bought lunch from there unless they were (a) on their way back from 'an off site client meeting' or (b) after a few days off.

I suspect people bought the prawn salad, showed it to people, threw it away then disappeared off to Lords or the Oval for the rest of the week.

They always had very odd selections of crisps that you couldn't find anywhere else.
