I meant to write I will run the 25k. Not 25 miles, that would be a really odd distance.

I did 2 marathons in 8 days a while back, and back in 2008 I did 2 marathons and a half marathon in just under a month.
Of the 2 marathons in 8 days (London and Manchester) in 2013 I had an awful day at London but then a week after shaved about 40 minutes off the previous week's time. I haven't done a marathon for a while (Covid's kind of mentally knocked me about a bit there), but I did have a routine to make sure I did regular flexibility work and to cool down properly after each race to minimise stiffness and allow for as good a recovery as possible, but physically and nutritionally.
The thing I noticed in the 2 marathons and a half in a month was that in the build up to (and during) the 2nd marathon I was hungry all the time. I felt that I had eaten well and carb-loaded effectively but clearly not effective enough.
Hope that might help.

Mine was a bit similar to yours, Vixx. Sussex is notoriously tough and I got really bad cramp. So much so, I had to wear a calf support in Brighton as it was still sore. Still, I was 40 minutes faster for the second marathon and managed a PB.
The third (London) was enjoyable but I was probably hoping for another PB. After running the first 18 miles, the cramp returned and I missed another PB by eight minutes.

Gutted for you there Surrey Phil!
London caught me out a bit as it was the first year I think that they were using a water brand (can't remember who now) that had a very slightly higher level of sodium in it compared to other brands, and it made me feel nauseous throughout the race. I felt so ill and my mouth felt funny. I thought Manchester was going to be a slower affair, but after 4 miles I felt really good and so just carried on according to how I felt.
It's funny how the best races I have are when I have no watch on (died that morning).

Thanks for the replies. Trainings going well. I did a 4.13 marathon last Oct.
The first 2 are smaller events. Boston I'm taking as a glorified training run.
Sports massages already booked. Time off mot so easy. I'm a postie and walk 25000 steps a day.......

Good luck. I'm in a situation where I'm doing Brighton then Manchester a week later. I had'nt planned it, but tried to enter Manchester after a trip to Cumbria last year, where I met my cousin and we found out we had similar goals of a sub 4 marathon. When we tried to enter, we found out Manchester was full, so I thought f**k it, I'll do Brighton. After entering, Manchester opened up more spaces and we both got in. I then got injured in December, and then got covid, so havent been able to properly train at all. Brighton is in 3.5 weeks, so I intend to jog it at 10 min miles, and maybe go for Manchester the following week. I fear my sub 4 is a distant dream.
