Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

How To Write Articles

or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Summary

This article lists all the codes you need when writing articles to get headlines, links, smilies etc.

This article is owned by fetcheveryone

Introduction

This article explains all you need to know about formatting your articles for FE - it walks you through all the codes you need to do to make headings, sub-headings, links and images. There'll be more stuff added hopefully soon for lists and so on.

Headlines

To turn some text into a headline, just start and end your headline with equals signs - like this (but without the quotes): "=This is my headline=".

Sub-headings

To create sub-headings, do the same, but use double equals e.g. "==this is my sub-heading=="

Links

To do a link, just paste in the link, and make sure you include the http:// bit at the start. The system will turn this into a clickable link for you e.g. Link (roll over me to see where I go)

Images

To insert an image into your article, you need to have grabbed the code from the image in the gallery - it will look something like this: [ IMAGE 3_25048 ] - all you need to do is paste the code into your article, and the system will do the rest. NB I had to leave spaces in the example I've just given you, otherwise it would have been turned into an image. Just copy the codes exactly as they appear in the gallery. Oh, and make sure the image is public, otherwise it won't appear.

Smilies

Smilies are built using colons, semicolons, brackets, letters etc. For example, colon, dash, close bracket makes a happy smilie :-) The full list is here: (NB Don't use spaces when you do it)
