Notes & Comments
Bev Park 5k. It was a perfect night. The light drizzle started just before the race and helped to keep us all nice and cool.
I warmed up properly this time (2 miles including some strides), something I've probably been guilty of not doing properly previously, and it really showed with a fantastic race. I normally try to breathe every 3 strides, but tonight it was every 2, and I felt that I wasn't constantly trying to catch my breath all the way round like in previous races. I felt really good the whole way round, and managed to keep in touch with the faster runners in front of me, some of whom I passed on the last hill. I was passed by one person on the run in to the line, but it didn't matter to me tonight. My performance surpassed my greatest expectations, and shattered my previous PB by about 40 seconds. I would have been happy if I'd beaten it by 4!! I'll wait for the official times before I update my race portfolio since someone was mad enough to bet on me!!
