Notes & Comments
0. Race start... I pushed myself way back in the field - starting at the sub-2 sign - determined to ease my right leg slowly into action.
1. 9.09 - Slow first mile with some very crowded bits. Right leg a bit iffy so happy to keep it slow...
2. 8.45 - The roads are getting wider and the crowds thinning - legs also getting warmer...
3. 7.50 - The watch tells me I'm running much faster than I thought I was. Start deciding that actually I don't want to get beaten by MissH today.
4. 7.40 - Legs feel OK now - so relax and run on...
5. 7.31 - Spot MissH 100m up ahead. Slowly reel her in.
6. 7.26 - Spend 2-3 minutes talking about the weather, then push on to see who else I can upset. [Also suspect this mile marker may have been out?]
7. 7.42 - Feels very nice to get to half way... Have a quick chat with another forumite (Nick)
8. 7.43 - For the first time my splits tell me I'm now below 8 min mile average. Decide to make sure they stay that way...
9. 7.37 - Find myself running relaxed and actually quite enjoying myself. Keep myself entertained by thanking every very wet marshall I pass.
10. 7.39 - Decide to wait one more mile before pushing for home.
11. 7.34 - Start to push the pace up - so this split time is a tad disappointing.
12. 7.13 - Overtaking heaps of peeps, but still really feeling quite relaxed.
13. 7.07 - Feeling slightly less relaxed...
13.1 0.43 - Me? Sprinting at the end of a half. Not very likely...
