Notes & Comments

VM London Marathon 2014. Very sunny once again. Managing cramp for last two miles. Somehow managed to keep going. Felt strong all the way round and without cramp felt like could have keep pace going. Was aware of it from about 20M, very subtle but there, so had to take it carefully so as not to bring on full blown attack.

7.08 train from Berko. 8.15 train from Charring Cross. Forgot to put sunscreen on. Three beet shots (night before, breakfast, 1 hour to go), 300mg caffein at 45 to go. Gels at 3.5, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22 (caffein gels at 7, 13, 19). Dropped Elete electrolyte botte at 6M. Use the sample tubes next time. Watch measured each mile slightly short so had ti use clocks to know where I was - get a pace wrist band next time. Watch actually measured 26.6. Might have run long way slightly in places but had to follow line - seemed to be more runners around at 3hr pace. 1.29:30 through half way. Watch shows ave pace as 6.49 so needs to be approx 6.46 to go sub-3.
