Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

SILVERSTONE HALF MARATHON (Chip - 1:41.09 / Watch - 1:41.09) (762nd of 4801 finishers) (Mile splits -7.20 / 7.37 / 7.54 / 7.49 / 7.48 / 7.50 / 7.56 / 7.45 / 7.44 / 7.44 / 7.47 / 7.43 / 7.28 / Last 0.1m - 0.44)

After a really unexpected PB in the Milton Keynes Half on Sunday, 2nd March, I'd noticed that I took much longer than usual to recover (doubtless because I'd not been 'running long' on the treadie in training).

Perhaps because of this, I couldn't get very motivated about the Silverstone Half. Even on race-morning, I couldn't really raise my spirits and was still 'flat' even as the start gun sounded..

But hey, the weather was really nice by Silverstone standards and there I was, after all, getting to run around one of the greatest Grand Prix F1 tracks in the world. So, 'early doors', my spirits lifted and I just decided to 'run free' (like last week) and have a laugh.

Struggled a bit with sore legs through Miles 8 to 10 - how much of a 'pink and fluffy' gym bunny am I? But got a real buzz when I came back onto the main circuit for the final lap, which kept me going through those last 3 miles. As every year, finishing under the giant "Finish" gantry was a real buzz.

I'm genuinely 'red-faced at today's PB, a second over the distance in 8 days. But ce sera sera.
