Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

HAWESWATER HALF MARATHON. Quite pleased with this result as didn't have a clue what to expect. I honestly thought I might not be able to bust the 2hr mark, I've done so little 'speed' training for ages. My plan was to set out at 9 minute miles and try to hang on. The first mile was too quick, so I slowed down... too much, the 3rd mile going at 9.51. I tried to get back on pace, and got them roughly back to 9 miles until the big big hill from the turn around to mile 8. I was then around 90 secs down on the target pace. But joy of joy, a mile long leggable descent and I'd done an eight minute mile and looked nearly back on track. I then thought, "Only 5 miles to go, I've got the endurance for this, let's see what I can do". And was delighted to run the last few miles averaging 8.30ish minute miles. Felt exhausted though - it was a big effort. Niggles all ok, but shin splints for first half hour, and stitch at the end, ouch. Female pos - 68/126, Cat pos - 36/64, overall 313/419. Negative Split. 1st half 59.46. 2nd half 56.54.

Splits. 8.28, 9.11, 9.51, 8.55, 8.53, 9.20?, 9.20?, 9.20?, 8.04 8.44, 8.34, 8.29?, 8.29?, 0.51?
