Notes & Comments

Garmin decided to freeze when saving run so no additional info....very annoying. Fabulous run, crossed the finish with a big smile on my face. Felt strong all the way round and ran the whole way other than when drinking or having gels. Stuck to the plan, went off slow but from halfway was gradually picking people off as I overtook them so definately the right strategy. Was a little annoyed that I didn't realise earlier how close I was to 2:25 but this was about getting the distance in my legs and running sub-2:30 so no complaints however I know that I can do better as still felt good at the end. Beautiful run really scenic running along the river, hot day so the shade in the first half was very welcome shame the second half was in full sun but coped fine. No mile markers so thank goodness Garmin worked for the race else would ave had no idea of pace. Also water stops were not where they said they would be in the information, thought the final one was never coming (was advertised as being at 9miles but was actually at 11miles, was very relieved to see it as in this heat really needed to hydrate). That being said the race was very well organised and would definately do it again, perfect PB course as flat as a pancake. Legs are achy but big smiles all around. Nutrition strategy and carb-loading worked and all the training, the 6am starts have been worth it, 16minute PB to boot. Just show what consistant training can do....in the last two months I have smashed my previous PBs at 5k, 10k and half marathon and hit all the goals I set for the year by May. Sub-2:25 in September? Oh yeah, and that big goal of the marathon next year...
Please wait... saving your change.
