Notes & Comments

(Race was quite a bit over 10k.)

After being awake from 0530 hrs this morning and then getting out of bed to find it had been (and still was) pissing down outside, the last thing I felt like doing was running!

The first 3 miles were an undulating 2 lap course around Beamish main street. I don't know if anyone managed to beat the tram on ths first lap 'cos it absolutely hammered by me.

The next 4 miles were a mixture of trails, fields and muddy hills. The scenery was amazing and I didn't mind all of the hills too much cos I was having such a good time - one downhill bit was practically a land slide thanks to all the rain! I found the fields quite hard and went over on my right foot a couple of times and nearly stood in a dead hedgehog.

Then next came running through a small stream and climbing over a style.

The finishing half mile was all downhill with one really steep short hill approx 300m from the finish line, but it was all worth it in the end!

I got my t-shirt, cup of tea and goody (paper)bag at the end. Some one had to stop me as i was walking back to my car cos my paper bag had disintegrated and i was leaving a trail of apples, enerybars and jaffacakes.

In short this is a really tough but fun race. Not PB material but definately challenging enough to make me come back next year and do better.
