Run > Hill Work

KH 5k at Saffron Walden, done as hill work/tempo effort. Course is scenic but net uphill (horseshoe), with 4 climbs. Very congested for first 1.5k, so reckon I lost about 30s at least on that. Then got stuck again behind people on the narrow footpath from c. 2.3k to the finish, so a bit frustrating. Tried to overtake a couple of times but this involved crazy sprints on a sloping verge and these just disrupted my rhythm. Pleased to have finished strongly, even though last k is uphill, and felt as though I'd got more in the tank. Never intended to race this, but still disappointed by the time as I felt I could have given more without shifting into racing mode. Guess I'll just have to get out there and prove it to myself in better conditions. Also, it's LHR-time, which is always a factor, and course measured long (slight change from previous years), so not directly comparable. Even so, my best on this course is 22.51...
