Run Kingston 16 miler. Aim was to run at marathon pace (or 6:45 to allow for garmin inaccuracy) for a controlled race. Started talking to someone about 3 miles in and we ran together until about 10 miles or so. This meant I put in several miles faster than planned, but felt pretty comfortable doing this.
After about 14 miles, however, I really felt pretty tired and had a couple of poor splits and a sore hip to show for it. Bang on my target time but found it harder than I'd have liked. Would not have been impressed to need to run another 10 miles today.
Excuses - I've been complaining of a sore throat all weekend and went out late (for me!) on Friday.
I think my lack of faster running really showed today. Time to set the alarm earlier for those midweek long runs and get more marathon pace and faster miles in...
