An ok race. This is a two lap very very flat race around the top of the Queen Mother Reservoir. It is all trail/gravel path and grass. Tonight's run was just after a big downpour so it was quite wet and humid and I found running on the trail a bit slippery so ran most of the race on the grass alongside the path.
Things started off well and I was on course for a PB and then something happened: I got bored. The advertised view of Windsor castle existed, but you could only see it from one corner of the reservoir. Otherwise it's not a very exciting race with very little scenery, no spectators (other than sheep and a few at the 5k/finish line) and there weren't a lot of runners so company was quite scarce. I worked out that the people who would fill the top 20 places were determined within the first 2km (I was one of them - I think I came 16th or 17th). I found the 2nd lap quite tedious and found myself thinking maybe I should only have done the 5k. I've never been a fan of lapped races and this run confirmed it.
Other than that, a well organised race, though the smell of grease and then sewerage as you passed the club house wasn't very nice.
Over all and ok race. I don't think I'll run this race again.
